Clean Energy Agritech

Transforming Farm Waste
Into Clean Energy

We convert India's vast annual crop residue into sustainable clean energy - eliminating stubble burning, cutting CO₂ emissions, and creating lasting livelihoods for farming communities.

Building India's Clean Biomass Infrastructure

Gurnanak Agribusiness Pvt. Ltd. is a Clean Energy Agritech venture founded to tackle India's annual agricultural waste crisis. Chhattisgarh - the Rice Bowl of India - and neighbouring states like Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand generate massive volumes of crop residue, much of which is burned openly, causing severe air pollution.

Our solution: we collect this residue directly from farmlands, process it into clean biomass fuel, and supply it to industries as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels - aligned with national programs such as SATAT and GOBARdhan that promote structured biomass utilization.

  • Farm-gate collection with fair, transparent pricing for farmers
  • Advanced biomass processing & compression technology
  • Primary focus on Chhattisgarh with expansion across central India
  • Verified carbon credit generation under Verra & Gold Standard

Why This Matters

India generates over 500 million tonnes of agricultural residue annually. Without viable alternatives, farmers resort to open burning - creating an environmental and public health crisis.

149M Tonnes Burned

Every year, 149 million tonnes of crop residue is set ablaze in India, releasing harmful pollutants equivalent to 320 million tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere.

Toxic Air Crisis

Stubble burning is responsible for up to 44% of Delhi's hazardous winter air pollution, affecting 480+ million people across the Indo-Gangetic plain with severe respiratory health impacts.

Economic Loss

Farmers lose significant potential income when crop residue is burned instead of being collected and monetised. Soil fertility degrades with each burn, creating a vicious cycle of declining yields and rising costs.

From Field Waste to Fuel

A vertically integrated, three-step process that creates value at every stage - for farmers, for industry, and for the planet.

1

Collect

Farm-gate procurement of crop residue directly from smallholder farmers, ensuring fair pricing and timely pickup within 48 hours of harvest.

2

Process

Advanced drying, shredding, and compression at decentralised processing hubs near collection points - transforming raw residue into high-quality clean biomass fuel.

3

Supply

Contract-backed delivery to industrial boilers, power plants, and institutional buyers seeking affordable, low-emission fuel alternatives.

The Numbers Behind The Mission

India's biomass energy sector is one of the fastest-growing clean energy segments, driven by regulatory mandates, industrial decarbonisation goals, and national programs like SATAT and GOBARdhan.

Creating Value Across the Ecosystem

Every tonne of biomass we process represents cleaner air, healthier soil, improved farmer livelihoods, and measurable carbon reduction.

Farmer Prosperity

Empowering smallholders with meaningful additional income by purchasing crop residue that would otherwise go to waste or be burned.

  • Direct farm-gate procurement
  • Fair, transparent pricing
  • Zero burning penalties avoided

Environmental Protection

Each tonne of biomass processed prevents 1.5 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions from stubble burning.

  • Reduced PM 2.5 & PM 10 pollution
  • Soil microbial health preserved
  • Groundwater contamination prevented

Industrial Transition

Providing industries with a reliable, cost-effective renewable fuel that supports decarbonisation goals and regulatory compliance.

  • Viable fossil fuel replacement
  • Consistent quality & supply
  • ESG & sustainability compliance
